WITH MUSIC FROM THE TK TRIO
The TK Trio is a band formed by three young up and coming musicians of the Charleston area: Tim Khayat (bass), Miller Boone (drums) and Noah Jones (Keyboards).
Each member of the band has musical background and education rooted in styles like jazz, funk and pop music, they also all started music in church. The TK trio features music of a wide variety of genres and wants to bring a new and fresh approach to classic musical styles like jazz and funk. Each song will have improvised elements to it, which means every performance will be completely unique. The high energy trio hopes to take you on a musical journey and put a smile on everyone’s face.
Tim Khayat was born in France and started playing music at an early age inspired by his father who is a drummer and music lover. He started on upright bass but switched to electric bass at the age of 12. In the summer of 2013, Tim moved to the United States with his family and ended up in Charleston, where he started attending Wando high school. Tim started being involved in the Charleston music scene at the age of 17, playing bass for country and pop singers and quickly entered the funk and jazz scene in Charleston. He is now playing with many different bands and artists in town and he just finished his first year at College of Charleston as a jazz performance major. Tim is also a part of the Seacoast church worship team. He hopes to continue rising in the local music scene and eventually get some more national attention as a musician and producer. Tim’s goal is to connect with as many people as he can through his music and he hopes to share his faith in Jesus Christ through it as well.
Miller Boone is a junior at CofC where he studies jazz. He has been playing drums since he was a kid. He has been playing regularly in various venues in town for a couple of years.
Noah Jones is rising sophomore at the College of Charleston studying music with a focus on Jazz studies with a double major in political science. Noah’s goal is to become a music producer, composer and arranger. His dream is to open a recording studio in Charleston to provide lowcountry youth a vehicle to express themselves through song and music.
